Abel Medrano Prieto

On October 7, 2019, Abel Medrano Prieto peacefully passed away surrounded by his family in San Francisco, California. He was 62.

Abel was born on March 15, 1957 in Las Animas, Nochistlán, Zacatecas, Mexico to Maria Luisa and Epigmenio Medrano. He moved to California in his youth. He was a hardworking man that embraced many aspects of life. He worked in the flower industry for many years. He was an avid golfer and baseball player. He enjoyed listening to Mariachi music. He loved vacationing to his hometown of Las Animas. What he cherished most was spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a resident of Watsonville.

He is survived by his wife, Lupe Medrano; his children, Jaime Medrano, Abel Medrano Jr. and Elizabeth Medrano-Jimenez; His siblings; Serafina Ramirez, Delia Melendrez, Patrocinio Garcia, Juan Medrano, Elodia Medrano and Rigoberto Medrano; and his grandchildren, Eduardo Vince Jimenez, Stella Marie Medrano, Emiliano Lucas Jimenez and Samuel Medrano.

The Visitation service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at San Juan Bautista Mission Church from 6:30-9:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Church in Watsonville and the Burial will follow directly after at Valley Public Cemetery in Watsonville.
