Alejandrina Q. Bayuga was born on February 18, 1922 in Sinaloa, Mexico and she came to the United States over 60 years ago. She worked at the JJ Crosetti Cannery for 25 years prior to retirement. Alejandrina greatly enjoyed knitting scarves and vests. Her family and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Additionally, she was a devout Catholic and never missed Sunday morning mass at St. Patricks Church. Alejandrina took great pride in that she helped so many of her nieces and nephews get to the United States. She was no stranger to having 15 or more family members living under her roof for the summer while everyone worked to raise money for the school year. She was extremely strong, driven and hard working, just a few reasons why she was loved and admired among all family and friends. Alejandrina lived independently until she suffered a stroke on February 3rd. She came down with pneumonia on March 4th and was taken from Country Villa nursing home and admitted back to the Watsonville Hospital Critical Care Unit. On the night of March 4th, surrounded and comforted by her two nephews whom she raised, Leon and Fidel Juan, and close family, Alejandrina passed away. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fortunato Bayuga, and her son, Jose Angel Bayuga.
She is survived by her nephews, Fidel and Leon Juan, her grandchildren, Mateo and Jessica Bayuga, Leeann, Allan, Ricardo and Selena Juan, great-grandchildren, Felicia, Joseph, Mateo and Genevieve Bayuga, and great great granddaughter, Makylee.
Please join Alejandrina's family at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel on Tuesday March 11th for a viewing beginning at 2:00pm and for a rosary service to start at 7:00pm. There will be a mass to follow on the morning of Wednesday, March 12th at 10:00am at St. Patrick's Church.
