On February 22, 2020, Amanda Hernandez Alvarado peacefully passed away surrounded by family.
Amanda was born on June 16, 1930; she was a native of Villa Victoria Guanajuato and a resident of Monterey County for 47 years. She loved to crochet, do embroidery, and write songs.
Amanda was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Hernandez; her parents, Savino and Raymunda; her son, Jose Hernandez and daughter, Digna Hernandez; and her great-grandson, Angel Campos.
She is survived by her eight children; Asela (Raul) Guerrero, Maria (Gilberto) Campos, Jesus (Amanda) Hernandez, Mercedes (Adalberto) Zarazua, David (Xiomara) Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, Francisco Hernandez, and Manuel Hernandez. She is also survived by her twenty grandchildren; Laura, Araseli, Lorena, Gilbert, Diana, Raul, Beto, Jose, Luz, Franky, Vanessa, Jesus, Ricky, Cecelia, Christina, Moises, Elijah, Gisselle, David Jr., and Andres; her 29 great-grandchildren, and her 1 great-great grandchild. All of whom will miss her greatly.
Visitation services will be held in honor of Amanda on Thursday, March 12, 2020 5:00PM to 9:00PM; a rosary will begin at 7:00PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. Watsonville. A mass will be held at Valley Catholic Church on Friday, March13, 2020 at 10:00AM with a burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
