Ann Heim

February 19, 1930 — April 23, 2013

Ann M. Heim
Ann let go of her battle with cancer in the loving arms of her family on April 23, 2013. She was born in Watsonville on February 19, 1930 to the late Martin and Anna Spikula. Her brother, Vincent Spikula died serving his country at the Battle of the Bulge. Ann graduated from Watsonville Class of 1948. After high school, Ann worked at both Pajaro Valley and Golden State bakeries.
She met and married the love of her life, Jim Heim. They spent 58 years together. Then, Ann went to work for El Pajaro Gardens as a floral designer. This began her lifetime love of flowers.
She leaves her daughter, Lynne Ann Kirkland and her life-partner Forrest Sladwick, son Layne Heim and his wife Karen, two grandchildren Colin and Ryan Heim, her sister Mary Ann Day and her husband Woody, her niece Lori Ann Day, her sister-in-law Alicia Heim and her husband, the late Fred Heim.
Ann had a passion for her yard and spent many hours growing exotic orchids with Jim. They began showing orchids and brought home many blue ribbons. You may have seen their orchids at the Santa Cruz County Fair.
Service will be held at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville, CA on May 4th at 11:00 A.M. Please feel free to donate to Heartland Hospice or the charity of your choice. Thank you to Dr. Mace, Dr. Kochi and Brenda Moore for making this journey so much easier.
