Annabel Read

Ann Read was born Clara Annabel Sobey in Vallejo, CA. She attended Vallejo High School, and then went on to study at CAL Berkeley. There she met her husband, Chester Read. They married on October 3, 1937. Ann had been a resident of Watsonville, CA for over 60 years. She faithfully attended the United Presbyterian Church. She was also in the Santa Cruz Symphony as a violin player. Ann worked at Ford's Department Store in Watsonville as a bookkeeper for 18 years. She is preceded in death by her sister, Irma Bartley, and her husband, Chet Read. She has one daughter, Ann Marie Read of Fresno, CA, and one granddaughter, Kathleen-Marie "Kathy" Read.

Ann was a very positive person, always with a smile on her face and a witty sense of humor. She was very kind and intelligent. She and her husband, a former member of the Watsonville Band, traveled the world together. She lived a long, beautiful life and will be missed. She died peacefully at home.

A service will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Watsonville on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2pm.
