Anthony Graham

Anthony (Tony) David Graham was born March 21st, 1955 in Layfette, Indiana. Tony passed away on Friday April 5th, 2013 after a spirited and courageous battle against prostate cancer. He was surrounded by friends and family in his passing.
Tony grew up in Los Angeles, California where he met his beautiful wife Cindy. They were married in 1983, and in 1990 settled in Aptos, California with their two young children.
Tony quickly became an important fixture in the Aptos community. He coached his children's sports teams for many years; particularly in Aptos Little League and Cabrillo Gals Softball. He loved baseball and had an ability to connect with children. Tony was a big kid himself, and he could make kids laugh and have fun, but also teach them the skills of the game. Tony was a father figure to many children in the community. He even let all of the kids (adults too) from his teams and neighborhood paint his Volkswagen van, which gained great notoriety around town.
Tony worked for the phone company for twenty-seven years and he loved his job. He loved to make people laugh and treated all people as family.
Tony loved animals especially dogs. He found all dogs to be beautiful and he would bend down with his hurt back just to pet them or give them a bone. He also loved babies. He would jump at any baby's cry. No matter what baby it was he felt that they needed him. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need.
Tony enjoyed running, dancing, books, music, playing basketball with the old guys, walking at the cement ship, baseball and the San Francisco Giants. He loved to talk politics, religion, and philosophy, and always had an answer, and according to him it was always the right answer. But his main pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, who he loved to brag about to anyone that would listen.
Tony will be remembered for his colorful personality, his sense of humor, his energy, and most of all his huge heart.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Cindy Graham, his daughter Sarah (Jake) Legions, his best friend/son Anthony Graham, and his grandchildren Brody and Dakota Legions. He is also survived by his siblings Jill, Doug, Angel, Mark, and Paris, along with nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Dr. Wu, Nurse Tanya, and the rest of the staff at Palo Alto Medical Clinic, Tony truly loved and appreciated them. The family also appreciates the work of Santa Cruz Hospice.
There will be a celebration of life at Seacliff State Beach near the cement ship (at the bottom of the stairs) on Sunday April 14th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers you may bring a dish for the potluck at the beach.
