Bettie Wilber

January 31, 1930 — June 15, 2021

Bettie L. Wilber died peacefully at her home on June 15, 2021. She was 91. Her family was at her bedside that day.

Bettie was one of 8 children of Elmer and Eula Ruminer, she was born in Cowlington, Oklahoma in 1930. The family moved to California in 1935, and settled in the Bakersfield area, eventually moving to the Visalia Area. She graduated from Exeter High School in 1949. She worked hard all her life. She was proud of the fact that she picked cotton with her family to survive during The Depression in the 1930s. Bettie had 2 children from a previous marriage - Carolyn Griswold and Larry Griswold. After her divorce, she worked in a coffee shop in Visalia, and met Van Wilber, they were married in 1962, and had 2 children - Eric and Suzanne. In 1968 Van’s job took them to Monterey, California and finally to Watsonville, where they have lived since 1970. Bettie worked at Cabrillo Lanes Galleon Room for 25 years, which she loved doing. She loved sports and was very active in little league and school sports. She was also a big fan of the Giants and Warriors. She loved dancing, playing bunco, casino slots, RV’ing with Hub Club and 2 National RV Clubs, but most of all she loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Van I. Wilber, her children, Suzanne (Mike) Adams, Eric (Laura) Wilber, Carolyn Griswold and Larry Griswold, her siblings Dwight Ruminer of Woodlake, California and Doris Gughemetti of San Francisco, California, her grandchildren Ashley (Paul) Basanese, Jacob Rummonds, Connor Rummonds, Sarah Wilber, Nick Wilber, Dylan Griswold and Dalton Griswold, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

We want to thank Pat Carroll and Ave Maria for all their help.
