Freedom

Beverley Frances McSwain was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was called home to be with The Lord on October 17, 2023.

Beverley was born in Portland, Oregon to Jay and Frances McSwain on August 23, 1943. After graduating from Jefferson High School, Beverley began working for the City of Portland Police Bureau. She started in the Records division. Then moved to North Precinct as the Timekeeper. She then transferred to the Chaplain’s office where she also worked as a Rape victim advocate. Before retirement, she made one last move to the Information and Referral department. During her time with the bureau, she made many friends.

Beverley loved spending time in the kitchen, baking desserts for her family and friends. Whenever there was an event, either at church or at work, she was asked to bring her famous lemon pound cake. She was a wonderful singer and piano player and truly enjoyed directing the youth choir.

Beverley was proceeded in death by Jay McSwain (Father), Frances McSwain (Mother), Mildred Johnson (Sister), Delbert McSwain (Brother).

Beverley leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Sandra Sullivan of Vancouver, Washington; one son, Tige McSwain Sr. of Freedom, California; three grandsons, Tige Jr of Portland, OR, Maurice McSwain of Portland, OR, and Kory McSwain of Portland, OR and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
