Carlos Salcedo

Carlos was born in Quirino Municipality of Degollado, Jaslisco, Mexico. He came to the US through The Brazero Program which brought millions of Mexican workers during the 1950's. He came to Watsonville in 1961. He was drafted during the Vietnam war and only completed boot camp due to the end of the war; enabling him to become a legal citizen.
Carlos married Teresa Zarate, 3rd eldest of 9 siblings: Antonia (Joaquin) Dominguez, Andres (Maria Elena), Salvador (Eloisa), Alfredo (Consuelo), Delfina (Magdaleno) Salcedo, Maria (Emilio) Barajas, Enrique, Alvaro (Silvia) and Lorena (Jesus) Gonzalez, on September 1, 1961 and brought her to the Watsonville in 1967.
Carlos is survived by his 7 children: Ana, Juan Carlos, Nora (Julian) Honeywill, Gilbert, Eduardo (Angelica), Julissa (Hugo) Perez, and Jackie (Hugo) Zuniga. 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his mother in-law: Maria Isabel Zarate, and is the oldest of 7 siblings: Juan (Maria de Jesus), Magdaleno (Delfina), Jesus (Graciela), Jose (Tomasa), Ana (Noel) Nieto, Gabriel and Francisco (Yolanda). Whom he helped raise.
Carlos was a devoted Catholic who loved to pray daily. Carlos also enjoyed spending time with his beautiful grandchildren and attending to his garden.
Carlos was a hard working farmer. Self employed from 1971 - 1995 Carlos was able to employ and immigrate a large percentage of family members and friends to the US. His greatest joy was helping others ensuring they also succeeded. Part of his wealth in life was his family and his many friends. Carlos was a generous man. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
