Christine Grassl

February 8, 1954 — April 7, 2021

Christine Ann (Johnson) Grassl passed away at her home in Corralitos, CA on April 7, 2021. She leaves her husband Mike of 42 years and her daughter Katie.

Christine was born in Wahoo, NE on February 8, 1954 and moved with her family to Watsonville, CA in 1962. She attended school at Mintie White, E.A. Hall, and graduated from Watsonville High in 1972. She was affectionately called “Big Red,” coined for her beautiful red hair, tall stature, and red convertible Volkswagen Bug.

After attending Cabrillo College, she worked as a bank teller at Watsonville Federal Savings and Loan until she obtained her Real Estate License and began working with her mother who owned Mary Lee Johnson-Roach Realty. She later opened her own business, Grassl Property Management.

In her free time, Christine enjoyed photography, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Christine is survived by her two brothers Christopher (Karen) and Curtiss (Mimi) and sister Candace. She also leaves her nephew, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Ralph Johnson and Mary Lee Johnson, and her great-nephew Trevor Sandoval.

She loved all unconditionally and was an inspiration to us all. She will be deeply missed by many. We look forward to seeing her again in God’s glory.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to NAMI of Santa Cruz County.
