Life-long resident of Santa Cruz, Curtis Craver, age 40, died unexpectedly on April 13, 2016. He was the beloved and loving son of Laurie Longenecker and John Craver. Loving stepfather to Joseph Stanger.
Curtis' passion was the ocean. He worked as both a recreational and commercial fisherman since he was a teen. His passion for life and the ocean was contagious. All who went with him out on the sea, during fishing trips and guided tours on his boat, were lucky. He took young and old out on - his pride - The Sea Gayle, introducing them to the wonders of the ocean and it's miraculous sea life. He was an enthusiastic and fearless volunteer with The Pelagic Shark Foundation tagging and releasing Great White Sharks. A world traveler, he was an extraordinary photographer and fine art painter. Curtis was loving, kind and self-sacrificing to many, many people and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 15 at The Harvey West Clubhouse, Santa Cruz, at 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Please bring love, laughter and fun stories to share.
