Frances Ybarra, 82-year-old beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on July 18, 2022, with her family by her side.
She was born on March 5, 1940, to Modesto and Jessie (Perez) Castillo in Madera, CA. Her family relocated to Castroville and eventually settled in Watsonville. As a young woman, Frances worked in the artichoke cannery and formed many lifelong friendships. She married in 1962 and soon built a family in Freedom, CA. She devoted her life to being a loving homemaker to her family.
Frances was recently preceded in death by her husband Bernardo C. Ybarra Jr., and their son Steven Ybarra, her parents, and sisters Carmen Rivas and Lupe Gil. She is survived by her children Linda Ybarra, Robert Ybarra (Cathy), Renee Sanchez (Serjio), Antonio “Tony” Ybarra, grandchildren Abbie and Holly Briley, Bobby and Elena Ybarra, and Benjamin Sanchez, as well as her brothers Ray Siaz (Eloisa), and Richard Castillo (Joyce).
Visitation will begin on Sunday, July 24th at 5:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 25th, at St. Patrick’s Church, followed by closing ceremonies at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
