Francisco Cervantes

Francisco Cervantes passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 10, 2014. He was 81.
Francisco was born in Whittier, CA on July 24, 1932.
He worked in the apple orchards for Ray Travers until the mid-1970 then went on to work in the strawberries for various companies until he retired in 1999.
He enjoyed traveling to Mexico, attending fiestas, spending time with family and going to his son's berry ranches and delivering baskets of berries to family and friends.
Francisco was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Elena Cervantes and siblings; Joe Cervantes, Olegario Cervantes and Anna Islas.
He is survived by brothers; Balbino Cervantes, Alfredo Cervantes of Mexico, Eustacio Cervantes of San Jose, sisters; Tecla Casillas of Watsonville, Ramona Esparza, Mercedes Franco of Mira Loma, and Rebecca Casillas of Salinas.
His children; Frank Cervantes Jr. (Maria), Virginia Cervantes, Bertha Cervantes-Padilla (Cesar Padilla), Mark Cervantes (Sonia), Stella Dominguez (Tony), 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel with a citation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm at Saint Patrick Church, 721 Main St., Watsonville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Saint Patrick Church with interment to follow at Valley Public Cemetery, 2445 East Lake Rd., Watsonville.
