Herminia Salas Zapata

Herminia Salas Zapata of Freedom, CA, passed away peacefully on 2/18/2022 after a long illness.

Herminia was born on 5/18/1943 to Jose Angel Zapata and Ines Martinez in Ciudad Acuna Coahuila. She enjoyed trips to the casino, loved dancing folklorico, traveling, cooking and spending time with family. Herminia worked in the farming industry and for several canneries.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Arturo Salas, her son Jose Alberto Salas and her great granddaughter Bianca Iliana Youngs. She is survived by: her children Idalia Cruz, Norma Salas Ortiz, Maria Inez Salas Vasquez (Luis Vazquez), Araseli Salas (Angel Berumen), Arturo Salas (Susie Salas), her daughter in law Maria Luisa Salas and 24 grand children and 28 great grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings Octaviana Serriteno, Fernando Garcia, Juanita Reyes and Carmen Rangel.

A viewing will take place on March 2, 2022 at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel at 5 PM and rosary at 7 PM in Watsonville. Mass will be celebrated the following day March 3, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Church at 10 AM in Watsonville.
