Jaime Perez passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2021, at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. He was 48.
Jaime was born In Araro, Michoacan on January 9, 1973. He resided in Watsonville for 47 years.
Jaime met his wife Dawn Perez in 1994 and they got married in 1996. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on August 24.
Jaime graduated from Watsonville High School. He worked for Santa Cruz Metro ParaCruz Division for 17 years. He loved his job, his coworkers and enjoyed meeting all the riders throughout the years. He enjoyed listening to music and always played Freestyle or Reggae. He was a diehard Raiders fan. He loved all sports especially car racing. He developed a love for racing after watching his brother-in-law and father-in-law working the pits at the races. He became hooked and started helping. He loved watching his kids play sports and was so proud, you could always hear him cheering them on. He was a big people person and always said you don’t have to be blood to be family. It’s easy to say that Jaime had a village of support, and he would be proud of how the village stepped in to help his family during and after his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Perez, his children, Madison Kencade Perez and Kaden Lee perez, his parents, Francisco and Maria Perez, his siblings, Sandra Perez Garcia, Evey (Anel) Perez, Esmeralda (Sergio) Perez and Deisy Perez, his nieces and nephews, Brenda, Samantha, Nathan and Eliana Perez, Yahir and Yadira Cantolan, Colton Nott, Anthony, Francisco, Citlani and Andre Garcia, Israel, Janisa and Ulysses Camarena, Camila Coraza, Fernanda and Gael Moreno, Jaime Reyes, and Bella and Jaziel Garcia, his father-in-law, Kenneth Nott and his brother-in-law, Kenny Nott, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday September 16, 2021, at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel located at 609 Main St in Watsonville from 5:00-9:00 PM with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. A bilingual Mass will be celebrated the following day, Friday September 17, 2021, at Valley Catholic Church located at 2401 E Lake Ave in Watsonville at 10:00 AM with the Final Blessing to follow directly after at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park located at 127 Hecker Pass Rd in Watsonville. The reception will follow at the VFW located at 1960 Freedom Blvd, in Freedom.
