Jan Marie Hassell Hermosillo passed away on January 19, 2025, in Watsonville, CA at the age of 80.

Jan was born in Eugene, Oregon on August 21, 1944 to her parents Hugh and Esther Hassell. Jan grew up in Springfield, Oregon where she attended Springfield High School and Thurston High School until graduating in 1962. She was a member of the high school dance team, the Ponytails. Also, a member of United Presbyterian Church in Springfield where she participated in youth activities. Jan attended Oregon College of Education (Western Oregon University) in Monmouth, Oregon.

Jan moved to Santa Clara, CA in 1966 then to Watsonville, CA in 1968. In 1968, Jan married Ray Hermosillo in Reno, Nevada. She worked at the University of Oregon, Underwriters Laboratories, Smucker’s and the Watsonville School District. She enjoyed watching her son, Mike, and later her grandsons, Brandon and Matthew, in their various sports activities. She loved sewing and other crafts along with volunteer work with Watsonville Little League. She was a member of the Jeep Club/RVing and attended United Presbyterian Church in Watsonville until its closure in 2020. She loved vacationing at Pismo Beach and traveling to see family and friends in Oregon.

She is survived by her son Mike and his wife Martha and grandsons Brandon and Matthew, all of Freedom. Stepchildren Steven (Nicole) Hermosillo and Karen (Bill) Lawrence. Her sister Lynne Martin of Hood River, Oregon, foster brothers Joe Willis and Bob Willis, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Hermosillo and her parents, Hugh and Esther Hassell.
