Jerry Earls, born in Bakersfield CA passed on June 29, 2021 after battling ALS for 3 years. He was married for 60 years to the love of his life, Margie, who passed last year. He and Margie raised two wonderful sons, Chris and John.
After being raised in Bakersfield, he attended the University of California in Berkeley graduating with a BSChE. In 1975, he was granted a post graduate degree in Food and Leather Science from the University of Leeds in England.
His work career included missile/space vehicle design, nuclear power waste treatment system design, tannery pollution control system design/construction/management, tannery quality control manager, nuclear power plant water chemistry consultant, MBARI underwater test facility water treatment design.
Jerry was extremely curious and throughout his life participated in Music (instrumental, vocal), Foreign language (Spanish, German), Sports (basketball, baseball, tennis, golf), and Art (sculpture, painting).
He and Margie were lifelong travelers visiting parts of the Continental United States, Canada, Asia, Central America, and longer stays throughout Europe, Russia, and Mexico.
He lived a full, meaningful life with a wonderful wife and family. He is survived by sons Chris and John, grandchildren Jessica, Ryan, and Morgan, daughters-in-law Jenifer (John) and Linda (Chris).
The family will have a private gathering to remember Jerry's life.
