Joseph Alfred Martínez “Joe” passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at his Watsonville home after a long illness. Joe was 78 at the time of his death a Watsonville resident; he attended local schools & 1977 he founded & operated Watsonville Roofing until he semi retired in 2011 & became a part time advisor to his son who continued his father’s dream to grow the family business. His volunteer activities also included the Watsonville Reserve Fire Department, hobbies were dirt bike riding, boating, camping loved riding his Harley Davidson, spending time with family & he was a true 49ers fan!
An active Catholic, he & his family attended St. Patrick’s church.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years Beatriz Martinez, one son Eddie Martínez two daughters Sandra & Lupita Martínez, daughter in law Roció Martínez & son In law Juan Avalos, He leaves 3 grandsons Joseph & Johnny Martínez & Daniel Avalos; siblings Albert, Richard & Agustin Martínez, Carol Sanchez, Irene Kavie & Rosie Hernandez & many nieces & nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Jose & Nora Martínez along with other siblings & nieces & nephews.
A Rosary and Vigil Service will be held Monday, June 6th at 7:00 p.m. at Ave María in Watsonville,
Visitation will begin 5 p.m. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be offered Tuesday June 7th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Church in Watsonville, after everyone will be invited to a service that will take place at Pajaro Valley memorial park, 127 Hecker Pass road, Watsonville, Ca following a reception at Corralitos Grange Hall to celebrate his beautiful life. Joe will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, his fun sense of humor, his funny punchlines & clever funny comebacks.
