Kathryn Winter

March 22, 1941 — September 20, 2015

Kathryn (Katie) Ann Winter (Kesovia) went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with her parents Vito and Lena Kesovia, Sister, Mae Kesovia and great nephew Eric Pridemore Sunday, September 20th. She passed away peacefully at the home she loved and lived in for over 50 years. She was a 74 year old Watsonville native, who attended Moreland Norte Dame Catholic Schools. After graduating from High School she began her career at the Watsonville Branch of Wells Fargo Bank, and then briefly retired to raise her three children. After her youngest child started school, she rejoined the workforce at Watsonville CanneryDean Foods as a lab technician for 30 years until retirement.

She leaves behind a devastated family, including her loving husband of 52 years Barney Winter, her sons Tony Winter of Watsonville, Mike (Monica) Winter of Watsonville and daughter Sheryl Winter of El Dorado Hills. She is survived by her sisters, Betty (Tony) Bobeda of Watsonville and Rosie Kesovia of Capitola. Katie will be missed seen shopping at the mall with her granddaughter Brianna Winter and great granddaughter Eliyanna (Yaya) who was Katie's pride and joy! Katie also enjoyed going to the movies and amusement parks with her grandson Nickolas Winter and attended all sporting events watching her youngest grandson Zackary Winter participate. She was very close to her numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as "Auntie Katie."

Her close and dear friends are equally devastated by the loss of such a fun, loving and loyal friend. Katie loved to go to Reno, play Bingo, cook and was considered the neighborhood mom for all the kids growing up throughout South Drive and beyond. She was the most selfless and generous person who would give you the shirt off her back if it would help you to feel better. Her life sacrifices were always made in consideration to those closest to her whether they were for immediate family or friends. She enjoyed gardening and when her mother was alive, her and her sisters loved working around their parents Apple Ranch and enjoyed going to the local Croatian dinner events. Katie will be remembered for her quick wit, unique and adorable sense of humor and her very protective motherly attitude. She had a warm and welcoming spirit that you could always feel and still probably can all the way from heaven.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 5th, 2015 at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel at 1pm.
