Kazuo Kikuchi passed away at his home in Watsonville, CA on April 16, 2013 at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his father Ikuji Kikuchi and his mother Shimeno Aikawa. Kazuo is survived by his loving wife, Shizuko of 58 years.
Kazuo is lovingly remembered by his sons, John Kikuchi (Carolyn Jones) of San Rafael and David Kikuchi (Priscilla Partridge) of Watsonville, and grandchildren Tamiko, Justin, and Mara Kikuchi. He is also survived by his sister, Yoshiko Hiraga, nephews Fred and Arthur Hiraga, and cousin Tony Senmaru. Kazuo was born in Southern California on February 1, 1928, and spent part of his youth in Japan.
Mr. Kikuchi operated his gardening service in Santa Cruz and Watsonville for over 40 years. He and his wife also owned Miyuki's Japanese Restaurant in the late 1980's to early 1990's. He was well-known for his beautiful bonsai trees and was a founding member and past president of the Watsonville Bonsai Club. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, deer hunting, and visiting casinos with friends. A private memorial service will be held at the Watsonville Buddhist Temple at 423 Bridge Street on May 11, 2013 at 11 AM with Reverend Hanayama officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Patrick and Debra Molina Carroll of Ave Maria Memorial Chapel.
