Manuel Jose Espinola
After many years of suffering with congestive heart disease Manuel Espinola finally succumbed to the effects of heart failure. He passed away peacefully at Watsonville Hospital on June 29, 2013 with his wife, his sons and family by his side. He was the last survivor of four siblings, Juan Espinola, Edwin Espinola and Guadalupe Espinola.
He was born on November 21, 1920, on the island of Graciosa, Azores. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1969 and settled in the Watsonville area. He was a World War II veteran, serving proudly for his native land of Portugal. Manuel enjoyed fishing, winemaking and woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Georgina Silviera Espinola, two sons, Albert (Mary) Espinola and Joe (Renee) Espinola, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, with another one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 6-7pm with a Rosary that will be recited at 7:00pm at Valley Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:00am at Valley Catholic Church in Watsonville, CA. Interment will follow at Valley Public Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Patrick and Debra Molina Carroll.
