Maria Leon

Maria Z. Leon passed away on August 23rd, 2013 at 84 years old, surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren.

Born on April 20, 1929, in MichoacA�n, Mexico. To Epitacia Jacobo and Espiridion Diaz. Maria had been a resident of Watsonville since 1968, raising her 5 children, and making Watsonville her home.

She worked in canneries, strawberry fields and apple orchards for many years before retiring. Her retirement was dedicated to caring for her grandchildren and instilling the same values as she did to her children of hard work, being honest, respectful and family values.

She enjoyed playing dominoes, loteria, trips to Lake Tahoe/Reno and casinos. She loved preparing special dishes for her family, and was a devoted Catholic.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years Francisco Leon. Her five children, Sabina (Ignacio) Aguilera, Jose (Elena), Ventura (Alicia), Rafael (Guadalupe), Miguel (Ruth), all of Watsonville. 16 Grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two brothers and a sister in Mexico.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, 2013 at
Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. Watsonville
from 5PM to 9PM. Rosary will be at 7PM. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m on Friday August 30, 2013 at Parroquia de Maria Auxiliadora 2401 E. Lake Ave. Watsonville, graveside service will be at Valley Public Cemetery 2445 E Lake Ave, Watsonville.
