Martha Fuentes, aged 69, passed away on November 7, 2024, in Salinas, California. Born on October 11, 1955, Martha led a life marked by kindness, community involvement, and dedication to her family.
Martha graduated from Watsonville High School and spent over two decades serving the community at the City of Watsonville Library. Her career as a library clerk from 2000 until her retirement in 2022 was a testament to her love for books and lifelong learning.
Beyond her professional life, Martha was deeply involved in her community and her faith. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Parish and Our Lady of Assumption Church, where she participated in various church activities.
Martha had a profound love for animals, often taking care of those in need. Her hobbies included visiting thrift stores, socializing with friends, connecting with her ancestry, and engaging in arts. These activities reflected her vibrant personality and her ability to connect with people and history in meaningful ways.
She leaves behind a loving family: her husband, Nick Fuentes; her daughters, Irene Acosta and Nichole Vera; and her son, Louis Fuentes. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Rafaela Lovato, and her siblings, Florentino and Soraida Lovato.
A Mass will be held in her honor on Thursday, November 21st at Our Lady Help of Christians, 2401 East Lake Ave., at 10 am. Interment will follow at 11 am. Martha's life was a beacon of love and kindness, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
