It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mary Rubio. She passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, at the age of 96 in Watsonville California.
Born on August 16,1928, in Cupertino, California to Bernardo and Soledad Tapiz she attended grammar school, junior high and high school in Watsonville California. She met her husband Marco Antonio Rubio at a dance in the city and the two quickly fell in love and married. She worked briefly in the food processing industry in Watsonville before becoming a full-time mom and homemaker. She had five children with Marco: Mark, Mary Lou, Rebecca, Patricia, and Michael.
Mary had four siblings; Joe, George, Sally and Pillar who she was close to and loved deeply. Her family was her utmost concern. She devoted her time to raising her children and maintaining a loving and supportive home for her husband, children and all those who visited the Rubio home. Mary and Marco produced so many happy memories for their children, grandchildren and friends that only a glimpse of them can be attested to here. There were innumerable birthday parties, family barbecues, graduations, weddings, and the birth of grandchildren. Mary and Marco always made it a priority to never miss a birthday or graduation of a grandchild, in addition, of course, to their own children's milestones. Family was the greatest gift and the most valuable experience for our mom and dad. Our mom was the emotional glue that bound the family together. Smart beyond what she let on, our mom knew everything about her children and grandchildren's personalities which allowed her to gently and lovingly guide them along the path to becoming loving parents themselves and contributing members of the community.
Our mom was preceded in death by her husband Marco, her daughter Mary Lou and her son Mark. Even after losing her husband and two of her children, our mom stayed joyful and optimistic. She provided a shining light and living example of what it means to be a good person.
Thank you, Mom, for loving and caring for us. You and Dad made us a home full of joy and treasured memories. We give thanks for your strength, courage and guidance throughout the years. We miss you so much, but we know you are together with Dad, and this gives us peace. We love you.
