Matthew Rivas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Matthew Rivas who passed away on August 22, 2024. He was 43.

 Matthew loved spending time with his family. He had a passion for making music with his friends, riding his bike and helping troubled juveniles by guiding them to live a more positive life. Matthew was working at the Monterey County Probation as a probation Aide for over 20 joyful years.

 Matthew is survived by his mother, Carmen Rivas and his two brothers, Hector and Jake Rivas. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

 He was preceded in death by his father Jorge C. Rivas and his brothers, George, Jimmy and Mark Rivas. 

 Visitation services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 5-9 PM with a rosary at 7pm at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. A mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
