Mela Galvan

July 28, 1918 — August 8, 2014

On August 8, 2014, Mela R. Galvan peacefully passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 96.

Mela was so full of life. She was a great healer and enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the Casinos, gardening and loved all of her birds. The doors of her home and loving arms were always open and full of love to all her family and friends. To a loving Mother and Grandmother, you will always be in our hearts, will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Mela has peacefully gone to be with her heavenly Father as well as reuniting with her husband; Pedro Galvan and daughter Nellie.
She is survived by her children; Juanita (Raul) Rivera, Nona Cabrera, Frances (Jose) Acosta, Pete (Rosa) Galvan and Blanca (Oscar) Alejandre. Mela is also lovingly remembered by her 30 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Doctor Clayton Mcdaniel MD, Michael Suval DO and Jeffrey Mace MD. They are also grateful for Heartland Hospice and the Post-Acute Care West (Annie, Leticia, Anna, Johannes, Linda, Dee, Sarah, Cynthia, Veronica, Juana, Genoveva, Jose and many others involved in her care.)

Visitation services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main Street, Watsonville. Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Saint Patricks' Church, 721 Main Street, Watsonville., with burial to follow at Pioneer Cemetery, 66 Marin Street, Watsonville.
