Nancy Lou Meyers, née Middleton, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2025, with her loving family at her side. Nancy was born on April 8, 1940, in Copalis Beach, Washington to Clarence and Ruth Middleton, the second of five children. Her family moved to Yreka, California, where she spent her youth and met her future husband.
Nancy married LeRoy Meyers on August 25, 1956, in Yreka. After the birth of their son, Alan, they lived briefly in Mt. Shasta, and then Roseville, where their daughters, LeAnn, Mary, and Susan were born. In 1966, they settled in Santa Cruz to raise their young family.
The most important thing to Nancy was her family. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and devoted daughter. A warm, kindhearted person who cared deeply for others, her compassionate and tender nature will always be remembered with fondness.
Although Nancy was primarily a homemaker when the children were young, she had various jobs later in life. In Santa Cruz, she worked at both the Lipton and Wrigley factories. Later, she worked as a clerk in the jewelry department at Walmart and as a designer of floral arrangements at Raley’s in Yreka. Nancy adored flowers and her home was always full of thriving plants.
Nancy enjoyed a highly creative life, constantly crafting and dreaming up new projects. She sewed beautiful clothes and costumes for her children when they were growing up. She had a knack for fixing things and a passion for decorating her home, refinishing furniture, and painting. She was an avid reader of historical fiction, and a collector as well. She especially loved finding treasures at garage sales, antique shops, and thrift stores. One of her greatest joys was caring for animals and the family had countless pets over the years. Most recently was her beloved dog, Lucy, who she missed terribly until her dying day.
Nancy was preceded in death by her son, Alan, two siblings, Jerry Middleton and Barbara Deas, and her nephew, Mike Deas. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, LeRoy, her daughters LeAnn (Gary) Rudolph, Mary (Rick) Savoni, Susan (Joe) Giardina, and her seven grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother, Steve Middleton, and sister, Shirley Saulsgiver.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Rini Huddleston and Emmy Liana Arbie for their tender loving care of Nancy. We would also like to thank Hospice of Santa Cruz County for their outstanding service and support.
If you wish to make a donation, please send to Hospice of Santa Cruz County or the Humane Society.
