Oscar Ruiz

Oscar Ruiz of Watsonville passed away at the age of 82 in his home on August 4, 2013 surrounded by his five daughters. Oscar was born on July 26, 1931 in Sonora, Mexico. He was a retired employee of UCSC where he worked for 25 years. He was a kind, loving, and generous man who always enjoyed spending time with his daughters and having barbeques. Oscar also enjoyed gardening, going to Chukchansi Casino and playing cards with his friends. His Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren meant the world to him. Oscar is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Margaret who also recently passed away January 7, 2013. He leaves behind his five daughters Veronica Olivarez, Susana (Jaime) Heredia, Magdalena (Joe) Murillo, Sandy Ruiz, Elizabeth (Theron) Hildebrand, 11 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and a brother David Ruiz of Mexico; he is also preceded in death by his parents Dolores and Lola Ruiz and numerous siblings. Oscar was the best dad and Grandpa anyone could have asked for. Our hearts are broken that we have lost such an amazing man, but will forever cherish the memories we have made with him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 5-9 pm with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main Street, Watsonville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday; August 15, 2013 at 10:00 am at Saint Patrick's Church with burial to follow at Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Patrick and Debra Molina Carroll.
