Ruben Villanueva, Sr. died peacefully on April 9, 2014 he was 75 years old born on December 4, 1938 In Sinton, Texas. He moved to Watsonville in his early childhood where his family settled. He met his wife Mary Ann in Watsonville they were married for 53 years. Together they had 3 children, Ruben, Jr., Veronica and Valerie. Ruben worked as a baker for many years. He later became a private owner of several service stations, but his passion was baking so he later decided to open his own bakery where so many would enjoy his hot French bread and pastries.
Some of his favorite things to do were to watch football and his Dallas Cowboys or to watch baseball and the Dodgers. He loved to drive his boat and camp or travel in his motor home. But the time he loved the most was the time he spent with his family talking to his grandkids and spending time watching his great grandchildren play.
He was predeceased by his parents Alfonso and Maria Villanueva and his sister Lidia Wilhite.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Lopez) Villanueva and his children. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Ruben Villanueva Jr. (son), Brenda Villanueva (Daughter-in-law), Veronica Johnson (Daughter), Valerie Bigham (Daughter), Brian Bigham (Son-In-Law) and his grandchildren, Christina, Valara, David, Andrew, Austin, Aaron, and Adam, along with several great grandchildren and numerous family members. His memory will live in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 15 from 5-9 Rosary at 7 p.m.. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday April 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church in Watsonville with the burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
