On December 25, 2020, Santiago Estrada Tehandon peacefully passed away. He was 79.
Santiago, born on February 6, 1940, was a resident of Watsonville. He was a hunger fighter of 2020 for Second Harvest Foodbank and a volunteer for Our Lady Help of Christians. Santiago loves spending time with his grandkids and also loved going to flea markets.
Santiago and his beloved wife Rufina Zembrano Tehandon passed away two weeks apart from one another; he on December 25 of 2020 and her on January 9 of 2021.
He is preceded in death by his parents Braulia Tehandon and Juan Tehandon, and by his brother Hacinto Tehandon.
Santiago is survived by his three children, Sylvia Castaneda, Francisco Tehandon, and Juan Castaneda. He is also survived by his four brothers Vicente Tehandon, Adolfo Tehandon, Salvador Tehandon, and Antonio Tehandon; along with his three grandchildren Alexander Cabrera, Francisco Lopez, and Jose Lopez.
A visitation service for Santiago’s family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 24th from 5:00-9:00pm at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel in Watsonville. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Valley Catholic Church at 10:00AM with a procession to follow to the burial at Valley Public Cemetery.
