Steven Ramon Ybarra, 55, of Watsonville, CA passed from this life on May 8, 2022, peacefully in his sleep at home. Born August 31, 1966, at Watsonville Hospital in Watsonville, CA, he was the third child of Bernardo C. Ybarra Jr. and Frances Castillo Ybarra. His father, Bernardo, predeceased Steve. Left to cherish many wonderful memories, Steve is survived by his mother Frances, sisters Linda Ybarra and Renee Sanchez (and husband Sergio), brothers Robert Ybarra (and wife Cathy) and Antonio Ybarra, nieces Abbie Briley, Holly Briley and Elena Ybarra, nephews Robert Ybarra and Benjamin Sanchez and many other loved ones and friends, including Tamela Edsall, her daughters, Andrea and Amanda, and grandchildren Lexi, Johnny & Mila.

 

Steve was a lifelong Watsonville and Freedom area resident. He attended Calabasas Elementary School, Rolling Hills Middle School and Watsonville High School and maintained lifelong friendships from those schools. As a profession, Steve worked in the grocery business at Albertson’s, Ralph’s, Save Mart, and Safeway, again cultivating many friendships throughout his career. Steve will be remembered for being a good friend to many, an avid Raider’s Football fan, and a great golfing companion.

 

Celebration of life services for Steven Ybarra will include Public Viewing and Rosary Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Ava Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. in Watsonville: Public Viewing: 5 to 9pm, Rosary: 7pm, Funeral Mass at 1pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish, 721 Main St. Watsonville with closing ceremonies immediately following the funeral at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, 127 Hecker Pass Rd., Watsonville.
