Timothy Dwyer

A memorial service will be celebrated for Timothy C. Dwyer at 11am Saturday, September 14, 2013 at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Avenue, Capitola, CA. Reception immediately following at the Dwyer Family home.

Timothy passed on Labor Day with his loving wife and family by his side. He suffered an 8 year battle with Alzheimers, dying at the age of 87. To the end he lived by the "Fighting Irish" slogan. His quick smile and Irish humor will be missed.

He was born in Butte, Montana to Nettie and Timothy Dwyer on June 29, 1926. After graduating from Butte High School, Timothy served 2 years in the Army during WWII. Fighting the Battle of Okinawa, in which he was wounded. He received many citations; including: the Bronze Star, the Victory Medal and the Purple Heart. The Army recalled him for the Berlin Airlift and he chose to serve and make a career with the Air Force. He retired a Senior Master Sergeant after 23 years of service.

In 1951 Timothy married Margaret Barovic, they had one son, Timothy G Dwyer, now of Ben Lomond, CA. After retirement from the Air Force they settled in Capitola, CA. He worked for the County of Santa Cruz as Supervisor of the Social Services Fraud Division. Margaret died in 1972.

A second marriage to Kathleen Helgeson in 1983, brought an extended family that loved him very much. Together Tim and Kit traveled the world, often traveling to see his beloved Notre Dame Football Team play. An avid sports enthusiast there wasn't a Saturday during football season that he wasn't watching his teams.

Timothy is survived by Kathleen, his wife of 31 years. His sister Ceil Kambitch and her family in Butte, MT His Son, Timothy G Dwyer and Colleen his wife, stepchildren: Greg Helgeson, Susan Helgeson, Mary Frank and Jean Helgeson. He had the honor of being grandpa to 17 step-grandchildren.

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care Timothy received from Trygve Thorensen and his girls at De un Amore and through Heartland Hospice Care in his final days.
