William “Bill” Arthur Dove, Jr. peacefully passed away on Monday July 15, 2024. He was 93. He was three weeks shy of his 94th birthday. He was a resident of Corralitos, CA.
Bill was born on August 5,1930 to his parents William Dove Sr. and Mae Esther Souder.
Bill was an Army Veteran and served in the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division. Bill also worked as a PG&E gas man in the Watsonville and Santa Cruz area for over 30 years.
He was a Corralitos Padre and served his community for over 60 years. He was a volunteer firefighter in Corralitos. Bill enjoyed being in the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper, and hiker (in his younger days). He fished everywhere he could, with Burney Falls being one of his favorite areas. He spent over 40 years making yearly trips to Gillette, Wyoming and Eagles Nest, New Mexico for antelope and elk hunting as well as to the California Sierras for deer hunting. He was very proud of his hunts and enjoyed displaying his successes. Bill was a master gardener and always had fabulous gardens that could feed everyone. Bill enjoyed reading and he always had a book around. He was a prankster, the fun ringleader, and loved Halloween. His legendary ice cream parties are usually the first thing a Corralitos resident reminisces about. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. He was especially proud of all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his longtime partner, Paula Waugaman; ex-wife, Elizabeth Wetherell; sibling, Evelyn Nash; and children Debra Dove (Rich), Darlene Fraher (Jeff), Desiree Hamamoto (Monte), Bill Dove (Lisa), plus his bonus kids, Gary Waugaman (Kara) and Karen Waugaman (Allan).
